Description

Natural gamma ray spectrometry logging performs spectral analysis of the natural gamma rays of the formation in the borehole. When natural gamma rays enter the detector crystal, the photomultiplier outputs electrical pulses whose amplitude is proportional to the gamma-ray energy absorbed by the crystal. Spectrum-stabilization technology sets different energy windows for thorium, uranium and potassium. The count rates of each energy window are sent to the surface, and after calculation and processing the Th, U and K contents of the formation are obtained. The instrument has high integration and is easy to operate, suitable for radioactive-intensity measurement in boreholes and determining the grade of uranium ore bodies. It is widely used in shale gas and radioactive uranium ore, and can also be used for groundwater monitoring by radiometric methods.
